学院简介


    西安石油大学材料科学与工程学院前身为1985年成立的西安石油学院焊接工艺及设备教研室,是我国石油高校中最早设置的焊接专业教研室。根据石油工业发展和学校建设多科性教学研究型大学的需要,2003年从原西安石油大学材料与机电工程学院分出,单独设置材料科学与工程系,2006年更名为材料科学与工程学院。经过30余年的建设与发展,现已成为学校一个综合实力较强、教学质量和就业质量较高的二级学院,在石油石化行业及西北地区具有较大的影响力。

    学院现有《材料科学与工程》硕士学位授权一级学科(涵盖材料加工工程、材料学、材料物理与化学3个硕士学位授权二级学科),为省级优势学科;1个《材料工程》工程硕士授权领域。拥有五个本科专业:焊接技术与工程专业入选教育部卓越工程师培养计划项目,着重培养在焊接工艺和焊接设备及自动化方面具有特长的学生;材料成型及控制工程专业为陕西省特色专业建设点,重点培养在模具设计与塑性成型、材料成型过程控制方面具有特长的学生;金属材料工程专业着重培养在金属热处理和金属的腐蚀与防护方面具有特长的学生;材料物理专业培养在材料组织分析与性能检测和材料表面改性与涂层制备方面具有特长的学生。新能源材料与器件专业着重培养在燃料电池、储能型电池等材料及其器件的研发、设计及应用等方面具有特长的学生。

    学院目前下设“焊接技术与工程系”、“材料成型及控制系”、“金属材料系”和“新材料系”等4个教学系、1个“材料科学与工程实验教学中心”省级实验教学示范中心;拥有陕西省焊接钢管工程技术研究中心、材料加工工程校级重点实验室、焊接技术研究所、腐蚀与防护研究所、材料检测与评价研究所等5个学术研究机构,拥有全校唯一的省级重点科技创新团队(石油专用管腐蚀与防护)。现有专任教师71人,具有博士学位教师占比超过80%,其中教授、副教授30余人,硕士生导师35人,教育部新世纪人才2人,陕西省中青年科技领军人才2人,陕西省青年科技新星2人,陕西省青年百人2人,校级拔尖人才、校级骨干教师10余人,拥有1个省级教学团队(焊接技术与工程),两名陕西省教学名师。

    学院现有教学科研用实验室面积近4000平米;拥有各类实验设备近500台套,10万元以上设备30余台套,设备总额近1500万元;拥有专职实验人员9名、兼职20余名。建成了材料组织结构表征及性能测试平台、焊接技术与工程平台、材料加工及控制平台、材料制备及热处理平台、腐蚀与防护平台、材料的计算与模拟平台六个平台,在满足教学和科研的基础上,可以满足服务社会的需求。

    学院科研特色鲜明,目前形成了材料组织性能控制、材料成型技术及控制、材料断裂机理及规律、金属的腐蚀与防护、先进材料计算与设计、材料表面工程及应用、管道检测及安全评价七个科研方向。尤其是在石油工程材料领域具有明显优势,输送管材、油井管材和石油矿场机械材料及其成型加工、石油管道腐蚀与防护等方面的研究居国内领先水平,取得了一系列重要成果。学院先后承担或参与国家863计划项目、国家自然科学基金、国家科技支撑计划项目、陕西省自然科学基金等纵向课题和企业委托项目等横向课题200余项,2011年以来,累计科研经费超过2000万元;在国内外学术刊物上公开发表论文800余篇,科研成果先后获省部级科技奖励8项,授权国家发明专利30余项。

    学院高度重视人才培养工作,在人才培养过程中始终贯彻坚持教学中心地位,以学科建设为龙头,以队伍建设为保障,以基地建设和科研为依托,突出特色、面向地方和行业,不断深化教育教学改革,着力提升学生知识水平、实践能力和综合素质,培养基础扎实、实践能力强、乐于奉献的材料类应用型高级专门人才。

    学院与哈尔滨焊接培训中心合作,建立了国家焊接工程师实训基地,教师中有7人具有国际焊接工程师资质,1人具有国际焊接技士资质。目前可承担在校生的国际焊接工程师培训工作,在已培训的10余届学生中,通过率在全国高校中名列前茅。

    目前学院每年招收本科生330人左右,硕士研究生70人左右,已累计培养各类毕业生三千余人,毕业生主要在石油、石化、机械、冶金、能源、军工等行业就业,一次就业率始终保持在92%以上。



Introduction of School of Materials Science & Engineeringat Xi’an Shiyou University


    The School of Materials Science & Engineering (shorted as “SMSE”) at Xi'an Shiyou University is historically traced back to a teaching and research section for welding process and equipment of Xi'an Petroleum Institute, which was established in 1985. The section was the earliest group of teaching & research institutes for welding process among the petroleum related universities in China. According to the needs of development of petroleum industries as well as construction of teaching & research in multiple subjects for higher education, the section was separated from a former School of Materials and Mechatronics at Xi’an Shiyou University and became an independent sub-unit of the university in 2003. Afterwards, it officially became SMSE in 2006 as it remains today. After over 30 years of construction and development, SMSE has turned into a strong sub-unit of the university in overall performances and in terms of high-quality teaching and high employment rate for graduates. It also has a strong influence in both petroleum and petrochemical associated industries in the northwest China.

    Currently, SMSE is authorized to offer a first-level MSc program in Materials Science & Engineering (covering 3 second-level specializations including Materials Processing & Engineering, Materials Science and Materials Physics & Chemistry), which are advanced disciplines at a provincial-level. The school is also authorized to offer an M.Eng. program in Materials Engineering. In addition, SMSE offers 5 undergraduate programs, among which the program of Welding Technology & Engineering was selected to be part of an outstanding engineer training scheme by the Ministry of Education of China. This BSc program is focusing on training talented students with expertise in welding process & welding equipment and in automation. The BSc program in Material Shaping & Control Engineering is featured as a construction site in Shaanxi Province and is focus on training students with expertise in mould design, plastic formation and material shaping & process control. The BSc program in Metallic Materials & Engineering focuses on training students with expertise in thermal treatment of metals and metal corrosion & protection. The BSc program in Material Physics focuses on training students with expertise in analysis of material structures & performance testing and surface modifications & coating of materials. The BSc program in New Energy Materials and Devices focuses on training students with expertise in research & development, design and applications of fuel cells, energy storage batteries as well as related materials & devices.

    At present, SMSE is organized to consist of 4 departments, i.e., “Department of Welding Technology & Engineering”, “Department of Material Shaping & Control”, “Department of Metallic Materials” and “Department of New Materials” in addition to provincial-level experimental teaching and exhibition center of the so-called "Experimental Teaching Center of Materials Science & Engineering". Besides, the school has 5 research institutes for academic research, including Research Center for Shaanxi Welding & Steel Pipe Engineering Technology, Key Laboratory of Material Processing Engineering, Research Institute of Welding Technology and provincial-level Key Science & Technology Innovation Team, in addition to the only Key Team for Science & Technology Innovation of Xi’an Shiyou University at provision-level (corrosion and protection for special oil pipes). At present, there are 71 full-time employees in SMSE and over 80% of them hold a doctoral degree. Among them, there are over 30 members holding positions as professors or associate professors, 35 members acting as supervisors for MSc students, 2 members selected as New Century Talent by the Ministry of Education of China, 2 members selected as Youth for Science and Technology Leader by Shaanxi Province, 2 members selected as New Star for Science and Technology by Shaanxi Province, 2 members selected as One Hundred Youth by Shaanxi Province, over 10 members selected as talents and excellent teaching staff by Xi’an Shiyou University, a teaching team for welding technique and engineering selected by Shaanxi Province and 2 members selected to be excellent in teaching by Shaanxi Province.

    SMSE has a number of laboratories with a total area of nearly 4,000 square meters for both teaching activities and scientific research. These laboratories are equipped with nearly 500 pieces of experimental machines and more than 30 pieces of them have values of more than 100,000 Chinese Yuan each, so that the total value of these equipments are accounted for nearly 15 million Chinese Yuan. The laboratories are run by 9 lab staff working in full-time and more than 20 working as part-time employees. Among these labs, 6 labs have been built for different functions, i.e., for characterizations of material structures & performance testing, welding technology & engineering, material processing & control, material synthesis & thermal treatment, corrosion & protection of materials and material simulations. Altogether, they meet requirements of both teaching activities and scientific research for society.

    SMSE is distinguished by its featured scientific research and has a variety of 7 scientific research directions, including: material structure & performance control, material shaping & control engineering, fracture mechanisms of materials, corrosion & protection of metals, simulations & design of advanced materials, surface engineering & application of materials, pipeline inspection as well as safety evaluation. The school has advantages particularly in the field of petroleum engineering & materials. It ranks at the top domestically in conveyor pipe, pipes for oil well, mechanical materials for oil mining and their moulding process, oil pipeline corrosion & protection research, and has obtained a series of significant achievements. The school has hosted or participated in over 200 horizontally funded projects, e.g., by the National 863 Program Project, the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Science and Technology Support Program Project, the Shaanxi Natural Science Foundation as well as vertical projects sponsored by different industries. Since 2011, the school has a cumulative research funding with an amount of 20 million Chinese Yuan, with more than 800 papers published in academic journals at both domestic and international levels, 8 provincial and ministerial science & technology awards for scientific research achievements as well as 30 nationally authorized invention patents.

    SMSE is paying great attention in training of its personnel, and is always persistent in putting weight in teaching activities for students. SMSE is prioritized in construction of scientific disciplines, ensured by construction of team members, while taking advantage of laboratory building and scientific research. More importantly, the school insists of strengthening its prominent feature, while facing the needs of local industries, in addition to continuously deepening reforms of education and teaching and putting forth effort in improving knowledge level, practical capabilities and comprehensive quality of students. The school’s goal is to provide highly-skilled talents in materials sciences with solid foundation in fundamental knowledge and strong practical experiences with dedicated spirit for society.

    Moreover, SMSE establishes a national base for training welding engineers jointly with Center of Welding Training in Harbin, in which there are 7 welding engineers and 1 technician with international qualifications. The base is qualified for training students for qualifications as international welding engineers with an excellent record in the passing rate among Chinese universities in the past ten years.

    Last but not least, SMSE enrolls about 330 undergraduates and 70 MSc students each year, and has awarded scientific and engineering degrees to more than 3,000 graduates in materials sciences. Nowadays, these graduates are actively involved in industries of petroleum, petrochemical, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, power sources and military industries. The employment rate of the fresh graduates in SMSE is always kept at above 92%.
